Welcome to Inspired Intelligence!

This site reflects a different approach to issues that matter to you: counterterrorism, personal security, and the safety of our nation. It also includes material on a wide range of topics as diverse as travel, beauty and fashion–to tips on how to succeed when the odds are stacked against you.

Employing the skills of an intelligence officer in a quest to motivate, inform, and inspire.

Why I Write:

I do not approach counterterrorrism or security issues as a Republican or Democrat as both parties have mixed track records in the foreign affairs arena. For me, your safety and security comes first–not partisan politics.

Commentary on these topics should be laid out in a way that doesn’t require you to have a PhD to understand them, even on issues as complex as the Middle East.

Innovation is born out of diversity, and it’s time to show that counterterrorism, personal security and foreign affairs are not just the purview of men. Women can bring new perspectives to the table, enrich the dialogue and devise groundbreaking solutions.  But we have to get more of them to the table!

While working for the CIA, I initially decried the traits that made me different from senior (mostly male) officers, but later realized that these traits were what made me an effective intelligence officer (empathy, intuition, a nurturing personality, and strong interpersonal skills). Now I’m on a mission to show women that they have the elements to be a Femme Fatale—the incredibly intelligent and operationally astute woman that gets stuff done.  We don’t have to change who we are to get ahead.  Use what makes you different and what makes you stand out, to succeed in new and exciting ways.

I hope to encourage women to identify their passions and take risks to pursue those passions—even if they have no idea where it might lead. The more off-the-beaten-path, the better!

Women can be just as interested in Vogue and Marie Claire as we are The Economist, Al-Arabiya, and the Washington Post. And why shouldn’t we be?
